| Former Trojans happy to be reunited with Kiffin
They inexplicably lost to 40-point underdog Stanford at home on Oct. 6, and three weeks later, lost again on the road at Oregon. The Oregon game was the third straight that Booty missed after breaking the tip of the middle finger on his right (throwing) hand against Stanford. He managed to finish that game but was out for the next three weeks. The Trojans (11-2) capped the season with a crushing 49-17 rout of Illinois in the Rose Bowl, but they had to watch the BCS National Championship game between LSU and Ohio State on television. "After the Rose Bowl, we knew and a lot of people around the country knew that we should have been in that game," Booty said. "We would have, too, if we hadn't hit that rough patch during the middle of the season. "You make the best of it and move on." For nine of the USC seniors, they get one final shot together Saturday in the Senior Bowl before spreading out around the NFL and leaving a dizzying legacy of winning at Troy.

Science New Ultrasound Technique Could Lead to Surgery with no ...
Anyone that has undergone surgery will tell you that the smaller the incision the less pain and the faster the recovery time. The ideal solution would be the ability to treat surgically without needing to cut into a patient at all. As farfetched as though sounds, it is not an uncommon process. For instance, doctors have been using ultrasound waves for years to break kidney stones into sand like material that can be passed out of the body without requiring surgical intervention. A biomedical engineer named Charles Cain from the University of Michigan has developed a new technique using ultrasound waves called histotripsy. This technique uses focused ultrasound waves 100 times more powerful than the ultrasound waves used for medical imaging during pregnancy.

Homelands seek bright side of grey matter
The Arab world has suffered heavily from the emigration of its educated young men and women to the West. Many Arab professionals who moved to the United States, United Kingdom and other European countries in the Sixties and Seventies to pursue higher education have become prominent figures in their host countries and contribute to their success — while their native countries lag behind. The biggest wave of emigration from Arab countries occurred in the second half of the 20th century and continues at an alarming rate in some of them. Arab countries are among the top victims of the brain-drain, according to international statistics. While China, India and African and Latin American nations also suffer from it, they are trying hard to get their migrant intelligentsia to return. However, there is no unified pattern or system that explains how the problem evolved in the Arab world or why educated Arabs emigrate.
