| Romney pins Republican campaign hopes on business experience
She tried and failed to set up a socialist health care system. She wore a headband. She stood by Bill in spite of his infidelities. But she did nothing else that was newsworthy. I'm not likely to vote for a Republican in November, unless Ron Paul or Fred Thompson are nominated, which they're not likely to be (because the media doesn't give them equal air or press time, so the public doesn't know much about them), but I WILL vote Republican if Hillary is nominated. So will hundreds of thousands of other folks. .
Vision quest
Orthoptics comes from the words orth, meaning straight, and optics, which refers to the eyes. Orthoptics, strictly speaking, is the straightening of the eye or, in clinical parlance, the study of the overall well-being of the eyes. The British are known in this profession the world over. An orthopticians job is basically to determine whether surgery is needed before a patient is referred to an ophthalmologist. Therefore, an orthoptician is an important and indispensable element in all eye cases. Thats how it is done the British way. Their American counterparts, however, are regarded as mere aides to ophthalmologists as they cant even read the very tests they conducted. It is for this reason that the lone practicing orthoptician in the country, Dr. Cynthia del Mundo, completed and took up her studies in Great Britain.
Hogan defence rebuffs women jurors in emotive child-murder case
He also made a number of emotional outbursts before being hushed by his defence lawyer. Although each juror’s and judge’s vote is equal during the deliberations over guilt and sentence, it is the judges and female public prosecutor, as well as the defence team, who question the witnesses. When the court reconvenes tomorrow it is likely that they will hear Mr Hogan’s account of events in August 2006 before retiring to deliberate. If a sentence is required, the prosecutor will argue that Mr Hogan should be jailed for the maximum that the law allows, in this case 25 years. Then the defence will claim that the term should be shorter, suggesting that his mental state means he would be better cared for in a psychiatric hospital. The panel will retire once more before returning with its sentence.
Good news and bad for SNP: He's popular - but independence isn't
The results represent a mixed blessing for Mr Salmond. They confirm other poll findings which show he is popular among Scots and is seen to be standing up for Scotland - which many voters approve of. But it also shows the SNP is as far from achieving majority support as it has been for the last ten years. Mr Salmond knows his challenge is to convert support for the SNP and him into support for independence. This is why he spent much of his speech to the SNP conference on Sunday arguing that credibility in government will push forward the case for independence. The First Minister knows he will have to build up support for independence gradually by persuading sceptical Scots that, although the SNP government might be achieving things at Holyrood, it could d .
