Lehman unit in Littleton cutting jobs
Lehman Brothers Inc. said Thursday it will cut 1,300 jobs as it "substantially" scales back its residential mortgage origination business. The company's Aurora Loan Services unit, which is based in Littleton, will see the suspension of its wholesale and correspondent lending activities. Aurora Loan Services will continue its direct lending channel, and will continue to service its existing customers. The regional operations centers Aurora Loan Services has in Lake Forest, Calif., Sunrise, Fla., and Florham Park, N.J., will be closed. The company will consolidate its Colorado operations at the Littleton office. Lehman said it will take a one-time, after-tax charge of about $40 million, partly due to severance costs. Started in 1997, Aurora Loan Services has more than 2,000 employees, according to the company's website.
