DIA's smart new design works
People aren't born knowing how to look at art. The DIA mostly avoids sacrificing the art on the altar of accessibility. I'm smitten with the pull-out labels and booklets on pedestals in front of many works, clarifying, say, the opaque symbolism in a Renaissance painting. I find the lift labels more gimmicky. The dozen videos, touch screens and other high-tech devices? Placement is generally discreet, and a few are revelatory, including an exhilarating film of an African masquerade ceremony. A small gallery exploring tenets of modernism pushes the envelope with projected labels over the art. I'm agnostic on the projections but willing to live with them in a segregated environment. The museum plays down traditional art history in favor of stories connecting the art to everyday life.
Buck & New Dawg: Bring on the Giants for Round 3
Players are human, and its only human nature for pro football players to let up if they know theyre taking a business trip, and only part of it is business. If you knew Cleveland was going to be a 10-win team in 2007, would you still applaud Jerry Jones for making that draft-day deal last April? NEW DAWG: Of course. It was the right move. Brady Quinn didnt make an impact for the Browns, and he wouldnt have made one in Dallas, either. Now the two first-round picks will give the Cowboys options. It was a stroke of genius by Jerry Jones. Who says they cant trade one of their two picks for some teams No. 1 next year, as the Patriots did in the 2007 draft. BUCK: Admit it, Newy, you thought it would be a Top 5 pick (because I sure did) ... and not the 20th pick overall.

'Cape Wind' meant as entertainment
When I first moved to the Rockland, Maine area in 1982, I had a vision that it someday would be much like Cape Cod. Today, Rockland has many similarities to the Cape, but you know the old saying ... there's no place like home. Midcoast Maine has been my physical home for 25 years now and I'm settled here with children and grandchildren living nearby. Still, when it comes to Cape Cod, it's hard to get the sand out of one's shoes when you've lived there. It's missing other family members and old friends that keeps Cape Cod close to my heart. My main reason for leaving Maine that particular week was my stepmother Anne's 70th birthday. My sister and I planned to take "Grannie Annie" out for a special celebration. We told her to pick any restaurant. I figured we'd wind up at Coonamessett Inn or The Flying Bridge -- two five-star restaurants in my book -- and my stepmother's favorites.

When the surface of a normal eyes cornea has a spherical curve, like the shape of a basket ball, light rays passing through it bend towards its centre and focus on one spot. Sometimes, the surface of the cornea is curved unevenly, with both flatter and steeper curves. When the surface of the cornea has an uneven curvature, vision becomes distorted. This common irregularity, called corneal astigmatism, causes blurred or distorted vision because light rays are not focused on one spot to provide clear vision.
